Viking School Workshops

Immersive Viking Visits!

Vikings! These famous and infamous raiders, traders, and of course invaders from the North had a significant impact on Britain, and now they can impact your classroom! The Vikings and Anglo Saxons struggled for control of Britain, inadvertently causing the creation of a new country called England. Invite a Viking to your school and let children experience life at the time of the Viking invasion, exploring artifacts, crafts, games and activities that will leave them full of knowledge and excited for more.

The map on the right shows the area where we can offer Viking workshops at our standard rate. We can offer workshops outside this area at an additional cost.

Workshops can be run on specific topics or combined to cover the whole period. Topics covered could include:

  • Who were the Vikings?
  • Where were they from?
  • Why did they come to Britain?
  • Time line
  • Immigration and settlement
  • Raiding and trading
  • Daily life, food and clothing
  • The Viking and Anglo Saxon struggle for England

What we do:

  • Bring a wide range of accurate replica artefacts
  • Dress up as a historically accurate character for the day
  • Provide a bespoke timetable that fits with your particular learning objectives
  • Supply the equipment and specialist materials for our activities

Example day:

  • Intro and Shield wall
  • Weapons display and raid Lindisfarne

Break

  • Britain or Bust! Trading game
  • Daily life explore artifacts activity

Lunch

  • The Food Game
  • A Viking Funeral

What we need:

  • A hall
  • At least two staff members and a minimum of one for every 30 children
  • A couple of tables to display
  • A place to get changed
  • Suitable parking close to the hall
